Detailed Report of Incident
Offending player and a teammate were engaged in an attempted tackle against a Providence player in open play. The offending player grabbed the Providence player's leg in an effort to complete the tackle and bring him to the ground. The offending player lifted the leg and turned the Providence attacker more than 90 degrees parallel to the ground. I stopped play immediately to assess a penalty and showed him a red card for his actions.

I do not believe there was malice in the action, rather an overzealous attempt at a tackle. At half-time, the offending player approached me to apologize, as did his coach to explain that he understood the reason for his dismissal from the field. There were no further disciplinary actions arising from the event and both teams continued play in a controlled manner.
