Detailed Report of Incident
After a late hit (separate report already filed) by a Charles River player, #12 Kevin Schroeder, a squabble broke out between the 2 teams. I thought I had separated the 2 teams successfully, but when I turned around, 1 Portland player, #7 Ben Johnson, was in the face of 3 different Charles River players. As I took a step over to them to break it up, Ben Johnson apparently did not like what was being said to him, and started throwing punches at the 3 CR players. They were able to be separated, and I issued Johnson a Red Card. After the match, I had a word with him, and he was adamant that a Charles River player threw a punch first, and that is what set him off. I told him, as often is the case, I didn't see the first action, only his retaliation. I was about to issue a Yellow Card to #12 on CR, for the offense that Johnson was upset about, but he felt the need to take matters into his own hands, and that simply cannot be tolerated. Johnson was apologetic after the match, and understood he should have walked away, and his team would've had the man advantage.

None of the punches really connected, and everyone came out of the fight OK physically.
