Detailed Report of Incident
Both teams had been employing offensive and defensive mauling (smother tackling) throughout the match. At the 5.55 minute mark of the second half, Mad River successfully stalemated an MIT maul. The maul had legally gone to ground (without defensive interference) and ball was stuck beneath the players. I was just about to whistle and award Mad River the ball, when Mr. Redder entered and put a shoulder on a player who had gone down with the maul. It was unnecessary and resulted in rising temperatures between teams. No further incidents followed the card.
