Match Report for

MIT Women (1st XV) vs. Tufts University Women (1st XV)
07 April 2012

Location: MIT Briggs Field, Northwest corner

SCORE
MIT Women: 22    Tufts University Women: 15

Windy but sunny and cool weather for early kickoff...field well lined, posts padded, flags up but no restraining ropes. Tufts opened the scoring with an overlap midway throught the period...25 minutes agreed to as Tufts had only 15 players; unopposed scrums. MIT had the bigger scrum and possessed the ball for most of the half and finally pushed over two scores based on good ball movement and forward play. Second half put MIT up but Tuts gathered some momentum by kicking through on two occasions, stopping the fullback and taking the ball deep in MIT territory. At 17 to 15, Tufts missed the tying conversion with 5 minutes left. MIT then punched in a strong forward run to cap the scoring at games end. There were two allegations from Tufts of chippy play by MIT I did not see...one girl slapped and another bitten on the arm in a maul. I talked with both sides about decorum. No major injuries although stoppage for 2 players with blood from small abrasions and a nose cut.
