Match Report for

Worcester Clovers (1st) vs. Lincoln-Sudbury Girls (1st)
02 May 2012

Location: Lake Park, Worcester, MA

SCORE
Worcester Clovers: 43    Lincoln-Sudbury Girls: 0

Worcester controlled both 30 minute halves in this game, despite having fewer players than L-S for much of it. Both teams had too few players and agreed to two 30 minute periods with 13 players each. L-S generously loaned their one sub to Worc for some of the game, until injury on both sides prevented that. The game had lots of stoppages due to injury, but the teams picked up their intensity immediately after each restart.

Worcester seemed to have more experience and definitely had more ball hunger. They retained and poached ball much better than L-S, and had 3 of 4 runners who were able to make meters with ball in hand. L-S tried to contain them with some great efforts at defense, but Worc had better support and some great interpassing despite fewer numbers. Both teams had some stand out players: for L-S #9 and captain (Ariana) and #22 (hooker) who was brand new but will make a great flanker soon; for Worc #10 and captain (Kayli) who scored several individual tries and made others possible, #9 who also scored individually and converted 4/7 tries, and #3 (playing flanker, Deanna?) who poached more ball than anyone on the field.

It was a fun game to ref. Thank you to the captains, and good luck to both teams.
